All of our vertical beds operate the same. The entire face of the Murphy bed comes down by grabbing and pulling the handles. In most cases, the bed can be easily opened using one hand. The beds are attached to your wall (at the top), which keeps them from moving forward, backwards, or side to side. When appropriately attached to the wall, your murphy bed is as solid as the rest of your wall. We DO NOT manufacture our beds with bi-fold doors that open and block the sides of the bed. The doors and/or drawer fronts on the face are merely for decoration and do not open or close. Check out the steps below to see how easy it is to operate our beds!

Helpful Reminders......
Common Question: Can a small child pull down the murphy bed? A child less than 4 foot will not be able to open the bed. The upper decorative handles on the face of the bed are used to leverage the bed open to pull the bed down, which a child is not tall enough to reach these handles. A lock is not necessary to keep the bed from opening due to the mechanism we use.
